About Me

Background Story

image3

I went to university for fine arts as well as graphic design.

I enjoy working in both fields and especially enjoy when I'm able to fuse the two together. My graphic design background is very apparent in my current series of paintings.

The name 'Tiny Purple Pebble' came to me through a combination of personal inspirations. My son's favorite book is "Alexander and the Wind-Up Mouse" by Leo Lionni. He could recite the entire book when he was only three years old. It's a magical story and the main inspiration behind our name. Secondly, my son's favorite color is purple. Finally, my favorite gemstone is amethyst.

My Medium

I use many different mediums, such as watercolor paints, acrylic paints, metallic gold paint, and apoxy resin.

I am currently using a technique of applying apoxy resin to selected areas of acrylic paintings to enhance the illusion of real gemstones. The apoxy resin provides an intense gloss as well as a raised 3D appearance.

My Inspiration

I live in the mountains and enjoy spending my time outside hiking and exploring. Many of my pieces are directly influenced by my time spent in nature. I love recreating plants and wildlife in my work.

I am also very intrigued with the symbolism of animals and believe their presence can help teach us many things about ourselves. I believe animals come into our lives at certain times (whether literally in the physical , or through images, dreams) to help guide us. I love learning about spirit animals and totems.

Gemstones and Crystals fascinate me. Not only are they breathtakingly beautiful, I also think it's incredible how you can feel the energy and healing properties they provide. I am awe-inspired to learn the meanings for all the stones I am drawn to.
